I am very proud to have the opportunity to sponsor a new team award for the NIFA Region VII competition this fall! The National Intercollegiate Flying Association (NIFA) is an organization that I believe in deeply. At the Region VII award ceremony on Monday, October 27th the first ever Team Sportsmanship Award will be presented to the team that best personifies what NIFA is all about!
Having been a competitor during my four years at Bridgewater State College as a student and since as a volunteer judge, NIFA has been a part of my life for that past 9 years. I knew that I wanted to have ReviewBeforeFlight sponsor an award and I believe that this new sportsmanship award is perfect. RBF is all about passion for aviation and the team sportsmanship award will honor the team that best acts as a team inside & out. The award will recognize the team that goes above and beyond to be a supporter of all aviation enthusiasts showing the best NIFA culture!

The new (1st generation) ReviewBeforeFlight Team Sportsmanship Award to be presented to the team with the best NIFA culture at the Region VII competition this fall!
Here’s what Region VII teams need to know:
NIFA Region VII ReviewBeforeFlight Team Sportsmanship Award
ReviewBeforeFlight is pleased to sponsor the new Region VII Team Sportsmanship Award to be presented at the 2014 Regional SAFECON in October. Teams will receive notice of this new honor prior to October 1st via email. Additionally, the award and how it works will be covered during the general contestant briefing.
Criteria and Selection
The award will be presented to the team that best exhibits what NIFA is all about: safety, education, passion for aviation, sportsmanship and commitment. This award is designed to recognize the team that, regardless of its own performance, best demonstrates cohesion and cooperation within its own ranks and at the same time shows a respect for its opponents and NIFA volunteers. The Award recognizes the team with the best NIFA culture – the team that buys into being a team and working together the best.
Scoring for the event will include input from both the contestants and judges. Each team will be required to submit, by the end of the competition events on Monday a nomination of one team that they feel best exhibits the spirit of NIFA. The nomination should be submitted via email to
ReviewBeforeFlight at mtelia1b9 (at) gmail.com and should include an explanation of why the nominated team deserves the honor and citing, with examples when possible, what they did to earn the honor. Teams may nominate themselves. Judges will also provide input based on their daily observations of the performance of each team throughout the event. Ultimately, the selection will be based on a combination of the input from all the teams and judges.
The winning team will be presented the newly created trophy, donated and provided by ReviewBeforeFlight at the end-of-event award ceremony.
ReviewBeforeFlight reserves the right to publish portions/all of the nominations (edited for grammar, when necessary) as well as pictures from the event and award ceremony.
